Jen Agius is a proud Bay Area native, and has always enjoyed the many benefits that California living has to offer. She knew she wanted to be an architect from a young age, and was inspired by watching her dad build the second story of her home (along with a variety of other home projects) when she was young. She graduated with her B.Arch from Cal Poly San Luis Obispo, where she studied abroad in Rome during her 4th year.
After graduation, Jen moved back to San Francisco and started her career at Martinkovic Milford Architects, before moving on to Fernau + Hartman Architects. While at F+H, she learned the value of vernacular architecture, and the importance of the connection between buildings and their sites. Throughout her career, Jen has worked on a variety of project types, ranging from single-family homes (including a ground-up house in Sea Ranch), to a 6,000sf leadership center in Los Olivos, as well as a 16,000sf barn expansion project at UC Riverside.
Jen is inspired by the potential of design to create beneficial change in the world, both at a macro and micro level. She believes that architecture and the environment are intrinsically linked, and that it is our obligation as designers to create beautiful spaces that fit seamlessly into their sites. When indoor and outdoor spaces are designed together, it brings each space into harmony with the other, and enhances both the user experience and the surrounding environment.
Jen lives in Oakland with her partner, Will, and their rescue dog, Cassie. In her spare time, she can be found with her nose stuck in a book, tending to her vegetable garden, or in the kitchen testing out new recipes and perfecting old ones.
